Lake-Friendly Award

On October 28, the 2010 Lake-Friendly Development Awards were handed out to seven deserving projects including the Leech Lake Area Watershed Foundation and Cass County ESD as well as your lake association!

Lake Stewardship Award

Wabedo, Little Boy, Cooper, Rice Lakes Association in Cass County, for promoting a conservation easement program on Wabedo Lake that led three landowners to permanently protect 3,500 feet of sensitive shoreline.

Lake-Friendly Protection Strategy Award

Leech Lake Area Watershed Foundation and Cass County Environmental Services, for using $300,000 from an LCCMR grant to pay up-front costs on donated easements in shorelands that were designated as “sensitive.” It is hoped that through this program, 3-5 miles of sensitive shoreline in Cass County will be permanently protected.
