New
“Score Your Shore” Tool Available
The
Minnesota DNR’s new Score Your
Shore tool is designed
to help citizens self-assess the habitat conditions and stewardship on their
shoreland property and adjacent aquatic areas. The tool may also be used by
organizations, such as lake associations, to assess multiple sites on a lake.
Score Your Shore provides an objective and systematic method to assess the
type, quantity and quality of the existing shoreland habitat as well as generate
an awareness of what makes a high quality functioning shoreline buffer. Since
the tool is intended to be a self-guided assessment, the DNR is not providing
formal training or workshops. Individual groups can modify the tool to meet
their specific needs. See the DNR
site: Score your
